The bacon rebellion is real. It is hip and some of its most outspoken activists are skinny.

A proud solidarity of slab, if not that much flab, marked the city’s inaugural Bacon-Fest on Saturday, raising funds for The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City.

“Hey, reporter, could you give a shout-out to the Girls Who Like Bacon? It’s a softball team,” said lawyer Lana M. Knedlik, the team founder who, at 115 pounds, could almost disappear into left field.
