Nora Proctor is a vegetarian. The 22-year-old from Minneapolis can't stand the taste, texture or smell of meat — except for one little weakness.

'I will eat bacon,' she says. 'It's salty and crunchy and smells really good. It's kind of like a potato chip. If it's around, I can't say no to it.'

That seems to be happening a lot lately. Baconmania is sweeping the country. In recent years, there has been a 40 percent increase in bacon consumption in the United States.
